Day Two (Entry by Scott and Todd)
(May 2nd, 2005) Our 2nd day was much less adventurous than our first, and we are very OK with that. We are writing to you from within our sleeping bags on Dimmick Island near Otsego. We paddled 33 miles today in 7 hours and made up all our time and are back on schedule—whoo hoo!! We paddled through the towns of Clearwater and Monticello today. We said hello to Ms. Tindle’s 5th graders (in spirit).
Bridge count: 4 on the Sauk, 6 on the Mississipi
Other canoes and canoeists count: 1 boat with two people, last night. We saw no other people on the river today at all except for two with a motorboat who were hiking on the island we are camped on.
Dams count: 2. One low head, one big one on the Mississippi
See you all at the launch party this Saturday!
So exciting that our updates are working with the satellite phone!
